Day 1: Agadir – Taliouine – Anti-Atlas Mountains – Zagora
Your desert adventure begins with an early departure from Agadir, heading east toward the dramatic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. This scenic drive offers breathtaking panoramic views of rugged peaks, arid plateaus, and traditional Berber villages built from earthy clay and stone. Along the way, you will witness authentic rural life far from the tourist trails.
A highlight of the journey is a stop in Taliouine, famously known as Morocco’s saffron capital. This charming town produces some of the world’s finest saffron, often referred to as “red gold.” If time allows, you may visit a local saffron cooperative to learn about its cultivation and traditional harvesting methods. Enjoy a relaxed lunch in a local restaurant before continuing your journey.
The road then leads you through ever-changing desert landscapes toward Zagora, located at the gateway of the Sahara and surrounded by vast palm groves. Zagora is famous for its historic sign reading “Timbuktu 52 Days,” recalling the ancient trans-Saharan caravan routes. Upon arrival, check into your comfortable riad, where you can unwind and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Day 2: Zagora – Draa Valley – Erg Chegaga Desert

After breakfast, continue your journey through the spectacular Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most scenic valleys. Stretching for over 200 km, the valley is renowned for its lush palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and traditional ksour (fortified villages). The contrast between the green oasis and the surrounding desert creates a truly unique landscape.
As you travel deeper into the desert, the paved road gradually disappears and gives way to off-road adventure tracks leading toward Erg Chegaga. These are Morocco’s largest and most remote sand dunes, rising up to 300 meters high. Far from the crowds, Erg Chegaga offers a true Sahara wilderness experience.
Upon arrival at your luxury desert camp, you will be welcomed with traditional mint tea. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful camel trek across the golden dunes as the sun begins to set. Watching the desert transform into shades of orange and pink is an unforgettable experience.
In the evening, savor an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by traditional Berber music around the campfire. With minimal light pollution, the desert sky reveals a spectacular display of stars.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Anti-Atlas – Agadir
Wake early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes a peaceful and mesmerizing moment as the first light illuminates the vast Sahara landscape. After breakfast at camp, begin your return journey toward Agadir.
Depending on the chosen route and road conditions, you may travel via the scenic desert tracks toward Foum Zguid before reconnecting with the paved road through the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Enjoy scenic stops along the way to stretch your legs and capture photos of the dramatic landscapes.
Arrive back in Agadir in the late afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable Sahara adventure filled with cultural discoveries, desert landscapes, and authentic Moroccan hospitality.
