Depart after breakfast drive to Tangier. Tangier's visual impact is bewitching: its amphitheatre of houses painted white or pale blue which stretch up into the wooded slopes of the "mountain", its colourful minarets, its kasba, its modern buildings and numerous palaces and first class beach, all go to make Tangier an ideal city to visit. Tangier has long inspired writers and artists such as Matisse, Bowles, Tennessee Williams, Orson Welles and Barbara Hutton. You’ll also visit the legendary Caves of Hercules and learn about the city’s rich history—from its Phoenician origins and Roman era to Arab rule in the 8th century and Portuguese capture in the 15th century.(B)

Day 5: Tangier to Chefchaouen

Early morning departure to Chefchaouen. On arrival explore with your guide “The Blue Pearl” of Morocco. The name Chef Chaouen, or Chaouen as many Moroccans call the town, is derived from the Berber word for horns Ichawen and refers to the shape of the mountaintops above the town. The powder-blue buildings intrigue as to the origin of their striking colour and offer many opportunities for stunning photographs. The medina, nestled in the hillside, is quaint and colourful, with an abundance of stalls and wares -some unique to the town. If you want to escape the town, the surrounding valleys, gorges and peaks offer the opportunity for hikes, scenic mountain views and trickling streams in an arid landscape. (B)
Overnight – Riad Dar Echchaouen

Day 6: Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis

Leave early for the drive to Fes via Volubilis, a site that dates back to the 1st and 2nd centuries. Reach Erfoud late afternoon, a town built by the French beside the Ziz River, with red sand buildings that stand out in impressive contrast against the surrounding desert. Exit the desert after breakfast, and drive a really picturesque 3 hours to reach Tinghir and the Todra Gorge. The area, known as the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs, sees you travel through typical villages, clustered around a ruined kasbah or ksar (fortified houses and watchtowers) until you reach Kalaat M’Gouna in the Valley of roses. In spring, the terraced fields that hang above the M’Gouna River offer an amazing spectacle of pink blooms and the area hosts a rose festival. It is a region known for its perfumes and cosmetics made from rose water, and for the hospitality and warmth of its people. Reach Skoura in the afternoon and enjoy some quiet time before dinner at your accommodation tonight. (B)

Day 12            : Marrakech guided city tour

Your English-speaking local guide will join you this morning for your Historical tour, with all the delights this fascinatingcity can offer. Some of the most interesting places to visit are the Bahia Palace located in the Jewish quarter known as the Mellah, the Dar El Bacha museum, the newly renovated Medrasa, and if time allows, Secret Garden; no tour of Marrakech would be complete without walking through the souks, where you will see everything from exquisitely embroidered shoes and belts to every type of spice, woodwork, brass and copper-work, kaftans ranging from the simple cotton to the elaborately embroidered –all enhanced by the smiles of the shop owners. (B)

Day 13            : Marrakech guided city tour

Your driver will collect you at 7.30am to take you to the spectacular Jardin Majorelle, with its abundance of giant bamboo, yucca, papyrus, palm, cypress and banana trees, philodendrons and bougainvilleas and amazing cacti with natural colours that contrast vividly with the bright blue façade of the villa, which was lovingly restored by the late Yves St Laurent and where he spent much of his leisure time. We highly recommend this early start to avoid the huge crowds that descend on the gardens at 9am. Being there by 8am enables you to have a lone tour of the gardens, then a coffee and a wander in the fabulous boutiques by the garden until 10am, when you will be first into the YSL museum, which is just a stone’s throw away from Majorelle; It is a stunning 4000m2 building hosting a permanent exhibition devoted to the work and heritage of the couturier.  Afternoon at leisure to prepare for your onward trip. (B)
